 To commemorate the NHS graduation ceremony, order a beautiful Hawaiian flower lei! Tuesday, May 31, is the deadline for ordering a lei. To place your order, you can download form here, and turn in completed form and payment at the NHS front office.

* Student Store Volunteer Coordinator: Coordinates parent volunteers that are working at the student store. New this coming school year: electronic sign up for shifts.
* Student Store Manager: Is responsible for checking and approving reimbursement requests turned in by shoppers and works directly with volunteer coordinator and shoppers to make sure all is running smoothly throughout the year.

Interested in becoming a certified CERT Member this summer?
The Irvine Police Department is offering a one-week program (August 1-4 and August 8, 2016) to educate high school students about preparing for various disasters that can occur and how one can respond efficiently when an emergency strikes their community. At the end of the program, students will be able to receive free equipment with a backpack that acts as your emergency kit. Also, students will have a final exercise to get certified as a member. Final PTSA Meeting of the School Year this Tuesday
Please join us this Tuesday, May 17, at 7:00 PM for our last PTSA meeting of the school year. The meeting will be held in Room 906, on the first floor of the building with the big "Northwood" sign. See link for agenda.

Are You Considering a Career in Global Business Development or Corporate Law? Come meet Jason Weintraub, Director of International Development at Taco Bell Corporation.

Jason Weintraub leads the international corporate strategy and development function for Taco Bell Corp. In this role, he develops and implements global brand expansion strategies, including corporate and franchise unit development, acquisitions, and new market entry.  Mr. Weintraub also served as an attorney, leading the law department's transactional practice. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Berkeley Law (Boalt Hall - University of California) and his undergraduate degree in political science from Stanford University. Just a reminder to all seniors and their parents...the price is now $150.00 per ticket. Purchase your ticket NOW because prices go up to $160.00 on May 21st. The Northwood High School PTSA Student Store sells healthy snacks, drinks and spiritwear Monday-Friday during lunch time. We are in need of parent volunteers for next year for the following positions:


 * Volunteer Coordinator: Coordinates parent volunteers that are working at the student store by setting up a monthly calendar.
 * Student Store Manager: Works directly with volunteer coordinator and shoppers to make sure all is running smoothly throughout the year, is responsible for checking and approving warrants turned in from shoppers, organizes price lists and products in the store as needed, communicates with PTSA liaison, sets up committee meeting in the Fall to ensure a smooth start for the year and sends out emails periodically to the parent volunteers.
 * Shoppers: Purchase items from Costco, Smart & Final and other local venues for the student store as needed.

Steve Churm serves as the Chief Communications Officer for FivePoint and is responsible for overseeing the company's communications externally and internally. He has more than 35 years of media and communications experience as a journalist, business owner, and media executive in California. Churm is a respected leader within the media industry regionally and nationally and currently serves on four nonprofit boards: Orange County Business Council, The Values Institute, Orange County United Way, and Global Grins. IUCPTA Scholarship
The Irvine Unified Council PTA will be offering one $500 scholarship at each high school in Irvine to a graduating senior who has performed service activities inside and outside of school. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be a current student in good standing at one of the IUSD high schools, be a current PTSA member, and submit the scholarship application by April 30, 2016.


NHS Athletic Boosters Scholarships 
Northwood Athletic Boosters is pleased to offer three $500 scholarships to Northwood seniors:
  • Mike Dunn Athlete of the Year - female
  • Mike Dunn Athlete of the Year - male
  • Rick and Sharon Crowell - Technology and Service Athlete
The online scholarship application forms open on Friday, April 1, and close on Sunday, May 1, 2016. Scholarship winners will be contacted by Tuesday, May 10.
